My Résumé
Summary:
José Barata has studied under painter Silvino Vieira (1962) in Lisbon and after a Bachelor's Course of Painting from National Society of Fine Arts, Lisbon (1991/94). He was admitted full member of this Society on 1992. Before (1981) he had got a Phd in Economics in University of Orléans.
His works have been shown in several galleries in the Lisbon area as well as galleries in other parts of Portugal, Spain, U.S.A., Belgium, Switzerland an Italy. He participated in several group shows. He won the first prize of the national salon CRIATIVIARTE 1995 and later several prizes abroad.
He lives and works in Lisbon, where he was full professor of Economics at University. At the same time, since 1991 he had a regular activity as a Painter and since 2004 he is a full time painter.
